The above hours listed for training are estimates only. Aircraft rental is $78/hour. Instruction costs are $35/hour. Of course, students are able to meet these costs on a “pay as you go” basis. All payment is due as each flight or briefing is completed. Most students will require more hours of training than the minimums specified by the FAA. The minimum requirements for the Sport Pilot are 20 hours of Total Time with 15 hours of Dual, 5 hours of Solo with 2 hours of Cross Country time (at least 75 miles) and 10 Take-offs and Landings. Our estimates include an additional 5 hours of dual to insure that safety requirements are met.

You will use a 2006 Skyranger aircraft for your sport pilot training. Please note that the total cost and hours listed above are approximately half that a student would pay to obtain the Private Pilot License. So the Sport Pilot License saves you considerable money—and time. It is our experience that most students will require more than the minimum number of hours to earn their Sport Pilot license; however, our experience also shows that the majority of Private Pilot students need at least 60 hours of total flight time to obtain their licenses, with corresponding increase in costs. We estimate that you will be able to obtain your Sport Pilot license for $3,000 to $4,000. Compare that to a Private Pilot certificate at between $6,000 and $8,000.

The Sport Pilot requirements are as follows:
No medical required - as long as you have never been denied
